Health Level Seven is an ANSI-accredited Standards Developing Organization which develops and publishes protocol specifications for application level communications among diverse health data acquisition processing and handling systems.

The Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) initiative is designed to stimulate the integration of DICOM, HL7 and other applicable standards. This talk explores the integration of DICOM images into HL7 messages and HL7 support for other medical images such as scanned documents.

Presenter's Biography:

David John Marotta () gained his undergraduate degree from Stanford, and his Masters in Computer Science from the University of Oregon. Marotta taught Computer Science before moving to the University of Virginia Health System in 1990. In 1999 he became the President of DT7 Software, which provides clinical information systems and integration software and consulting.
