The Health Level Seven (HL7) standard can be used to populate a healthcare information repository across heterogeneous computing environments. Using interface engine technology and HL7 information exchange a system can be designed which will collect everything from patient demographics and charges to orders and observation reporting. Additionally, HL7 specifically supports information exchange for medical records and information management.
